(KRON) – The Colma Police Department arrested a woman who was found with stolen merchandise and credit credits that did not belong to her, the department said on its social media.
The theft occurred at 4:54 p.m. on June 2. Colma police officers responded to a business on Colma Boulevard for the report of a theft. Responding officers were informed that a woman took multiple items without paying and left the store. Officers also received a description of the suspect.
The suspect was walking southbound on Junipero Serra Boulevard near Colma Boulevard when officers spotted her, police said. According to Colma PD, the officers attempted to detain the woman, however, she fled on foot.
After a brief pursuit, police located several credit cards not belonging the suspect while detaining her. The suspect was identified as 39-year-old San Francisco resident Charmaine Carey.
Carey was identified by the store’s loss prevention officer as the thief. According to Colma PD, it was later determined that Carey stole approximately $207.55 worth of merchandise.
Carey was arrested for petty theft, resisting arrest and misappropriation of found property. Carey was issued a citation for the charges and released on her promise to appear in court.
