Collaboration will introduce a co-branded FAMU affinity debit card that generates
donations to the university with every purchase
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Addition Financial Credit Union and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University
(FAMU) announced a new multifaceted partnership this week designed to expand access
to financial services, education and career-building opportunities for FAMU students.
As part of the collaboration, Addition Financial will launch a co-branded FAMU affinity
debit card that will allow students, alumni, faculty, staff and supporters to represent
the university with every purchase. Each time the card is used, Addition Financial
will donate three cents to FAMU, creating an ongoing source of support for the university.
The partnership will help promote student financial independence and responsible money
management by providing convenient and equitable access to financial services, including
low- or no-fee student checking and savings accounts.
“Florida A&M University has a proud history of developing leaders, strengthening communities
and creating opportunities that extend far beyond its campus,” said Kevin Miller, president and CEO of Addition Financial Credit Union. “Addition Financial is honored to work alongside a university that shares our commitment
to education, service and expanding opportunity. Through this partnership, we can
make financial services and education more accessible to FAMU students while helping
them build greater financial stability, confidence and independence.”

Addition Financial will also offer financial education workshops on campus for FAMU
students, faculty and staff. Workshop topics will include budgeting, credit management,
student loan awareness and financial planning for life after graduation.
“At FAMU, our responsibility is to prepare students not only for successful careers,
but for lives of consequence — and in today’s economy, financial fluency is not optional;
it is foundational. This partnership with Addition Financial gives our students direct
access to financial services, sharpens their financial acumen, and builds professional
experience that compounds over a lifetime,” said President Marva B. Johnson, J.D., “As a University grounded in practical excellence, we understand that knowing how
to manage, grow, and steward resources is as essential to our students’ futures as
any degree we confer. Together, we are equipping the next generation of professionals
and leaders — not just to earn, but to build, to invest, and to lead — with the financial
literacy that today’s economy demands.”
To strengthen the connection between Addition Financial and the campus community,
the credit union will establish a new paid Campus Ambassador position for a FAMU student.
The ambassador will help increase awareness of the partnership, connect fellow students
with available financial resources and support financial education initiatives across
campus.
Addition Financial will also create an internship pipeline through which FAMU students
can gain real-world experience in the financial services industry. The program will
provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills, explore potential
career paths and apply their classroom knowledge in a working financial institution.
