A Sand Springs business owner is frustrated after someone stole from her store last week and, despite giving police extensive information about the suspect, no arrest has been made.
Kailie Wells filed a report with Sand Springs police that included video of the suspect’s face, the suspect’s license plate number, name and even her address. Wells said she feels like she’s done most of the work herself and wants to see an arrest made soon.
Security cameras capture the theft
Wells is making changes to her store, Reclaimed Consignment, after her security cameras captured a woman stealing four purses last Tuesday.
She now has to take extra security measures, including building a new wall to keep purses attached to it.
Wells was working when two women came into her store, and one of them grabbed the purses and ran out to her car.
“I immediately grabbed my phone and ran out videoing just to get their faces. And, I mean, obviously they didn’t stop the car, but I got all of the descriptions I needed, the license plate number, and then I called the cops,” Wells said.
Tip leads to suspect’s identity
Wells filed a report and posted about the suspect on Facebook. Someone replied with the suspect’s name and address. Police told her that because the woman lives in Tulsa County, the case is more complicated.
“Called sheriffs, gave them all the information. They said that they would send a guy out, and then 30 minutes later I get a call back from them and they say that they talked to SSPD and there was no suspect on my file, no information, nothing,” Wells said.
Wells said the last update she received from police was Friday, when she was told the officer who took the report still needed to submit his notes.
Wells hopes for charges
“I do want to see her be charged for this. Maybe it’ll get into her head that she can’t do this and get away with it,” Wells said.
Wells said she lost about $300 in the theft because the purses belonged to other people, and she paid them for their losses.
Police response
Sand Springs police said these cases take time. Because Monday is a holiday, police said they will look into the case and share more information Tuesday.
