ROSSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested a Rossville man for fraudulently purchasing items with a City of Rossville credit card.

The GBI arrested 53-year-old Mark Harris and charged him with one count of theft by taking and one count of false statements/writing.
Harris was formerly a City of Rossville public works department director and a Rossville Fire Department captain.
District Attorney Clay Fuller asked the GBI to investigate Harris on September 14, 2023.
The GBI then searched Harris’ home on Wednesday, October 4. There, they found many items fraudulently purchased with the city’s credit card accounts, according to the GBI. They also found a Toro self-propelled lawn mower at his home, the GBI said.
Later that day, Harris returned more items he had previously purchased with those credit cards. He returned them to the City of Rossville Public Works Department.
The GBI said he purchased these items with city credit cards: a DeWalt standing spotlight, DeWalt utility table, DeWalt pressure washer, DeWalt angle grinder and jigsaw, Midea window air conditioning unit, DeWalt turbo leaf blower, Milwaukee angle reciprocating saw, Gorilla stationary step ladder, and many other tools.
Authorities booked Harris into the Walker County Jail. The GBI said he made bond and was released.
