Feed Dogs
There are four types of animal that can be fed in Hawaii: cats, dogs, birds, and cows. Each type of animal can be befriended via the Aloha Links app, and will give you a gift once you reach Buddy status with them. Dogs, in particular, will give Silver Plates, which can be sold to pawn shops for $100 each. As dogs are satisfied with relatively cheap snacks such as sandwiches and potato chips (not to mention Dog Food) this can be a great way to make a lot of money for a relatively low investment.
Defeat Sujimon Trainers
Once you’ve unlocked the Anaconda Shopping Center location in Hawaii, you can visit the PC Shop to reunite with Kasuga’s old friend, the Sujimon Professor. The Professor introduces Kasuga to a Sujimon League based out of Hawaii, where trainers can battle with teams of Sujimon.
Four different levels of Trainer can be encountered around Hawaii. The more difficult the Trainer, the greater the reward Kasuga will receive. The Trainer levels are:
- Bronze – $50
- Silver – $100
- Gold – $500
- Platinum – $1000
If you join the Sujimon League as soon as possible and work on capturing strong Sujimon and powering them up, you will soon be able to easily take on Platinum-level trainers for $1000 a pop. Of course, there’s also the Discreet Four – four super-powerful Sujimon Trainers who drop the best rewards of all!
Convert Dokobucks From Dondoko Island
On Dondoko Island, a resort Ichiban first visits in Chapter 6: Puppet on a String, everything is paid for with a unique currency called Dokobucks. However, Dokobucks can be converted back into good old American dollars – and the exchange rate is usually in Ichiban’s favor. You can make a ton of money by investing in Dondoko Island, raising customers’ Satisfaction ratings, receiving large amounts of money after each guest’s stay and then converting them back to cold hard cash. Just remember to keep a few Dokobucks handy in case the daily sale items at the island store are too good to pass up!
Pawn All Unwanted Items
Frequently stop by the pawn shop to sell off unwanted items. In addition to the Paper, Iron, Bronze, Silver, and Gold Plates you can find in chests and dumpsters, you can also sell duplicate copies of low-level weapons. They won’t sell for a ton individually, but, if you regularly open every dumpster and check every container for possible loot, it can add up fast! You can also sell upgraded weapons you no longer use or gifts none of your party members or allies want.
Are You Feeling Lucky?
Ichiban Kasuga may have left the yakuza life behind for the most part, but he’s still a gamblin’ man. There are several games of skill and chance available to play around Yokohama and Hawaii, including shogi, mahjong, Texas hold’em, and more. Keep in mind, however, that most of these games will require an initial cash investment, and some operate using a points system where you have to exchange your points for money rather than receiving cash directly.
Koi-Koi, which can be played in Little Japan, is a particularly good source of money, as a winning round can net you between $1000 and $10000 on higher difficulties. However, remember that luck is fickle, and you cannot always guarantee a win – even the most skilled players find that the cards or dice or chips are not always on their side!
Don’t Skip Substories & Drink Links
Most Substories in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth involve Kasuga poking his nose into something he shouldn’t or getting swept up in local shenanigans. Some, such as those where Kasuga gets a part-time job, feature fairly sizable monetary rewards. Completing substories is also necessary to unlock some of the money-earning mechanics mentioned above, including Sujimon Battles, Aloha Links and Dondoko Island.
Drink Links are conversations you can have with your party members when your Bond level gets high enough. Typically, only the last Drink Link in a chain comes with any kind of reward, but it can be a significant one. For example, the last Drink Link with Eric Tomizawa results in the party earning a cool $20,000 in a single fight.
Follow all of these tips to help Kasuga become the richest man in Hawaii – maybe even wealthy enough to afford to rent out the Crystal Aloha Resort swimming pool or take a trip to the Dolls & Devils club.
