I wanted to apply for reimbursement as soon as the accident happened. However, Chase informed me that I needed both a bill from the rental company and a credit card statement showing the charge from the rental company (in effect proving that I rented the car with my card).
I asked if I could show the charge on my credit card account, but was politely told no and that I must have the statement. Thus, I had to wait an extra three weeks for my monthly statement to be issued before I could begin the process of making a claim.
Once I had my statement and the repair bill from the rental company, the process was straightforward. I went to the eClaimsline website and selected “Start a claim.”
Next, I was prompted to input the relevant information—my name and credit card number.
After this, I was asked to select the type of insurance I was making a claim for. Again, the website made it straightforward and walked me through this.
Next, I was prompted to enter my personal information, including my address and date of birth. Then, I was asked to input the information about my claim—the date of the accident, the type of vehicle and other details.
Last, I was asked to upload supporting documents, like the statement showing the initial charge from the rental company and the bill for the repairs. As I mentioned, I had to wait a bit to collect all the information before I could submit the claim. But once I had everything, it was straightforward.
After all forms were filled out and documents submitted, I hit “Submit,” and it was done—easy as that. I was given a claim number and told to expect a response within ten days. All in all, the process was painless and straightforward.
Not including the time I spent waiting for my statement to be issued, it took me a month and a half to receive my reimbursement from Chase. I submitted my claim on December 9, and I received a check in the mail on January 24. I can’t speak to other issuers’ car rental insurance policies since I haven’t had to use them, but I think this was a decent speed to see my money returned.
