More than 160 stolen credit cards, driver’s licenses and social security cards were found recently inside an Anderson County, South Carolina home. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said Steven Edmondson is charged with eleven felony counts of financial identity theft and receiving stolen goods. Detectives executed a search warrant at his home on Cheek Street in Anderson and said they uncovered an entire spread of stolen checks, gift cards and personal information belonging to Anderson County residents.In March, the sheriff’s office released information about Edmondson grabbing a woman’s purse in a grocery store, leading him to her storage unit where he stole several items back in February. Read more on that story here. Detectives tracked him down, charging him with burglary, and in doing so said they found evidence pointing to more crimes. After several months of investigating, detectives said they gathered evidence showing Edmondson stealing checks from mailboxes and using personal financial information to pay for transactions, including his own dental insurance.Edmundson was dubbed the “Easter Bunny Thief” back in April 2023 when he stole Easter packages from people’s porches.Read more of that story here. “He takes little kid’s gifts, he steals people’s identities. He’s caused a lot of problems for a lot of good people in Anderson,” Detective Nezar Hamze said. A judge set his bond for more than $170,000 and he has since bonded out of Anderson County Detention Center.
