Cousins Alrick Robinson and Iain Lawson launched Pacifica Local Wembley last week, serving Wembley and the surrounding areas with a focus on reliable, community-based service and repairs.
The pair said they regularly encounter misconceptions about appliances that result in perfectly fixable items being discarded, costing homeowners money and contributing to unnecessary waste.
Mr Lawson said: “Wembley is home for me, so it made complete sense to set up here. I wanted to be a familiar face people could rely on, right in the heart of the area I live in.”
Mr Robinson said: “It mattered to us that whoever covered Wembley actually knew it, rather than it just being another postcode on a map. Customers get a personal touch that way—we’re invested in doing right by the people we work for, not just completing a job and moving on to the next one.”
They highlighted three common myths in particular: that strange appliance noises mean the machine is beyond repair, that eco settings are always best, and that anything tripping electrics should be scrapped.
A noisy washing machine or dishwasher, they explained, is often due to a minor issue like an unbalanced load or a coin stuck in the drain filter. Eco cycles, while energy-efficient, can cause build-up in hard water areas, and a tripped switch is frequently caused by a simple fault.
Mr Lawson added: “We’ve seen how much these myths can end up leaving a whole in people’s pockets. So, we wanted to share what we’ve learned and hopefully save our neighbours a few quid (and a lot of hassle) along the way.”
