Wells Fargo has an online balance transfer function. However, this feature is not available to everyone. According to a company rep: “Promotional balance transfer offers are extended based on eligibility, and not all Wells Fargo credit card accounts are eligible for balance transfers. Wells Fargo looks at a variety of factors like card usage, customer preferences and financial and risk factors when determining eligibility.”
If your account is not eligible for an online balance transfer, you will receive the following message:
However, even in this case, it is still possible to initiate a balance transfer over the phone. To do this, you can call directly at 1-800-400-9423. Alternatively, you can go to an in-person branch and speak to a representative.
If however Wells Fargo does approve you for an online transfer, the process is easy. The first step is to log into your Wells Fargo account, head up to your Accounts tab and look for the Credit Card Service Center.
From this page, you’ll be prompted with a list of your credit cards. On the left hand side you’ll see the option to request a balance transfer.
The next screen will prompt you for the amount you’re looking to transfer along with the account you’d like to transfer from.
