As we get started with the festive season here in India, the banks are reconciling their ledgers to check out the spending they can make towards providing discounts for incoming sales for 2023’s festive season. I wanted to indicate what sales are coming up and what credit cards will be helpful.
Flipkart partners with ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank and Axis Bank for Big Billion Days Sale
Flipkart has announced its Big Billions Day Sale, which will start on October 7, 2023, for some customers (and on October 8) for everyone else and last through October 15, 2023. A whole list of banks has signed up to bring customers on board, with discounts of 10% offered instantly. Here are some cards to consider to sign up before the sales come in:
Axis Bank Neo Credit Card: The Axis Bank Neo Credit Card is being offered Lifetime Free by the bank. As an activation benefit, you get 100% Cashback (up to INR 300) on the card for the first utility bill paid with the card within 30 days. Twice a month, you get up to INR 120 off on ordering from Zomato and 5% off on Utility Bill Payments (up to INR 150) per month. Apart from these, you also get discounts on Myntra, Bookmyshow and Blinkit (and deals on Flipkart in the upcoming sale).
Axis Bank Flipkart Credit Card: You get an INR 500 Flipkart E-Gift Voucher and an INR 100 discount code on Swiggy as a Welcome Benefit for a card that will cost you INR 500 + GST in terms of annual fees. The fee will be waived if you spend INR 200K (Two Lakhs Only) in the first year. You get 5% Cashback on Flipkart, 4% Cashback on Swiggy, Uber, PVR, Cleartrip, Curefit & Tata Play & 1.5% cashback on all other categories except wallet load, EMI, Rent, Jewelry and government services. Additionally, there are four complimentary domestic lounge visits.
Axis Bank Atlas Credit Card: While the Axis Bank Atlas Credit Card is a travel credit card and one of the most sturdy propositions in the Axis Bank Credit Cards offering right now (for INR 5,000 + GST), you get 10,000 Airmiles/Hotel Points (5000 EDGE Miles that transfer into 18 transfer partners at 1 EDGE Mile = 2 Airmiles), it also has an interesting programme which allows you to earn up to 17,500 EDGE Miles over one year at the milestone of INR 300K, INR 7500K and INR 1500K spending during the year. So, if you intend to buy big stuff, this is the card to go for. By the way, you get 2 EDGE Miles (4 Transferable points) per INR 100 spent and 5 EDGE Miles (10 transferable points) per INR 100 spent at hotels and airlines (not online travel agencies).
ICICI Bank Credit Cards: ICICI Bank also has a whole host of credit cards, including their gemstone collection, where you get offers on movie tickets and other stuff when you are a customer. ICICI Bank is a significant participant in these sales, and it might be wise to pick one of their cards for your 10% discounts.
Amazon partners with SBI Cards for the Great Indian Festival
Amazon will have its sales start on the same day as Flipkart. For Amazon, SBICard is the preferred partner for the sale, and a 10% Instant Discount is already being offered on some deals. As long as you are buying stuff for more than INR 5,000 (groceries over INR 2,500), a 10% discount is provided. All SBI/Tata Credit Cardholders, excluding SBI/Tata Corporate Credit Card, Paytm and Cashback SBI Credit Card, are covered under this Program. The offer is not valid on RuPay Credit Card transactions done via UPI. You can apply for an SBI Card here.
There are a lot of deals usually on this edition of the sales, so if you want to get in and don’t have an appropriate card, get in now.
